Meet Charles Barugahare
I'm Charles Barugahare, a 52-year-old, married Ugandan and a proud father of three adult children.
From a young age, I felt the weight of financial struggle. And while challenges may never fully disappear, I can honestly say: progress has been made.
For years, I searched for answers. I attended financial seminars, devoured personal finance books, and participated in various coaching sessions.
“Charles, you are educated — but you're living only within your familiar financial territory. You need to learn, practice, and act in the unfamiliar financial territory.”
I was puzzled. “What do you mean?” I asked.
And then, he broke it down for me — in a way that struck deep and stirred something within me.
He contextualised what is in the familiar and unfamiliar financial territories
Familiar Financial Territory | Unfamiliar Financial Territory |
---|---|
No one in your family is a millionaire | You can be the first millionaire |
You have a low income | You can grow your income |
You spend more than you earn | You can spend and invest the difference |
You’re in constant debt crisis | You can learn to manage debt wisely |
You don’t know where your money goes | You can track every coin |
You’re used to waking up late | You can claim a productive hour before work |
A Turning Point
Then he said something that stuck with me:
“Take seven days. Reflect on this. Call me back and share what you’ve discovered.”
A Spark of Transformation
Seven days later, our follow-up talk ignited a transformation in my financial life. I felt challenged — and empowered. That conversation changed everything. The memory of that moment is something not to hold unto but share with others.
“Charles, your financial struggles aren’t because you’re not working hard or smart…
They’re not because of bad luck…
And it’s not that you don’t understand money.
You’re struggling because you’re not asking and following through the right financial questions with enough purpose to drive meaningful change.”
What I Realized
Despite all my knowledge and effort, I had been:
- Unable to clearly identify where money is earned from
- Unaware of how to apply the universal laws of money
- Good at learning — but inconsistent in doing
- Vague about what financial success looked like
- Trapped in familiar patterns holding me back
- Operating without tools or systems for consistency
The Foundation of Change
These lessons — some painful, some empowering — became the foundation of my financial turnaround.
Today, through coaching and mentorship, I not only live differently — I help others do the same.
